Ohio State vs Wisconsin

This past weekend was the Ohio State vs Wisconsin home game.  The Psi Omega house tailgates for all home games, so it was bound to be a great (and early) day.  The first sounds of loud music echoed through the house around 9:30am from our two 4 foot tall speakers.  Sounds of the Best Damn Band in the Land bounced down 13th ave, apparently awaking some of our neighbors.  Shortly thereafter a police officer came and told us to turn it off until later in the day.  The music was cut short until promptly at 11:00am, and then the party began.  Hundreds of hamburgers, hot dogs, and brauts (and 5 kegs) made sure no one went hungry (or thirsty).  Two sets of cornhole boards, couple tables of beer pong, and ~50-70 dental students occupied the front yard by 2pm.  So much buckeye gear (this pic was around noon)!

Unfortunately for me I jammed my right pointer finger while trying to catch a football behind my back.  That’s just asking for it.  My finger swelled up to twice its size, and I’ve been icing it and taking Ibuprofen since.  It’s just about back to normal.  Thankfully I can still hold an explorer and play racquetball, haha.  Need to be more careful with my hands!  I did play some mean cornhole, and in one round my opponent and I had a wash with 12 points each (all 8 bags went in the hole!).

We headed to the game around 2:50pm hoping to catch the band preforming Script OHIO before the 3:30pm kickoff.  Unfortunately we had a couple mishaps on the way to our seats.  First, someone must’ve been playing a terrible practical joke on me and put a flask full of apple juice in my back pocket!  A cop found it and dumped out all my apple juice and made me “return it to my car,” which meant I had to go put it in my gym locker about 300 yards away.  Meanwhile the rest of my group went in, but couldn’t all sit together.  Because our tickets were from all over the stadium and the ushers this year are ninjas, we could not figure out a way to all sit together.  Max and I ended up in Block O North.  Block O is the student section that leads the stadium in cheers, holds up cards and waves flags, etc etc etc.  Max and I weren’t digging it.  For one, we don’t like being told what to cheer, and for second, it’s mostly undergraduate freshman who are trying to meet people.

Eventually we got word from Beth, who was sitting on the opposite side of the stadium (under the big screen in the above photo) that her section did not have an usher.  The five of us convened there from all corners of the stadium to watch the 2nd-4th quarters together, so that was much better.

Isn’t that the cutest picture of those two you’ve ever seen!?  Our seats were really good on this side of the stadium, with no massive flag poles in our way to watch the action.  Also, on a 4th and 6 for Wisconsin at the 8 yard line they pulled out a fake FG.  I happened to have my camera out taking photos and managed to snap this one:

I’m still not convinced he got that ball in before he was out of bounds…  If that picture was of OSU scoring I would have that blown up as a poster, haha, but at least it’s a cool picture.  And the Buckeyes won, so it’s all good!  Next tailgate will be the 24th of October for the game against Minnesota, if you live in the Cbus area (or are a classmate of mine), you should make it a point to make it.

Check out more photos from this day (if you were at the tailgate, you might be in some of these)

Cool dog, good photos. Is the grill lid cover working?
